Before we begin, I would like to warn the users that trying to jailbreak Chromecast is a risky move and if something goes wrong, you could basically render your Chromecast useless.
So, proceed with caution. Read each and every step thoroughly and make sure you understand it before doing anything.
Jailbreak Chromecast: Equipment required
- Google Chromecast device
- USB
- OTG cable
- Image – it is link is given here: http://download.exploitee.rs/file/chromecast/GTVHacker-Chromecast-Secure-Boot-Exploit.zip
Now, lets delve into the actual process
- Format your USB device, this will erase everything you have stored in your USB so make sure you have created a safe backup somewhere else.
- Download the zip file.
- Extract gtyhacker-chromecast.bin file.
- Download the photo you downloaded onto your USB, by using this exact line:
– dd if=gtvhacker-chromecast.bin of=/devsdX bs=1024
- Insertthe USB into the female port of the OTG cable.
- Plug it into the Chrome Cast.
- While plugging in the power cable, keep pressing the button on Chrome Cast simultaneously.
- Keep noticing the screen, and on the flashing light you will that the Chromecast is rebooted.
- Your /device now receives changed with a jailbroken model and /data is removed. Your device will boot as per usual, but this may take a while. Be patient and do not disconnect anything in a hurry as this may lead to loss of data and may damage your device.
- After everything is done, the device will start up normally and you will be displayed the setup screen. You can set the settings as you wish.
