Enable Macintosh HD in Finder & Desktop in Mac [2020]

People new to Mac always get confused finding, “This PC” in Mac. But actually Mac doesn’t have one. Also, it surely has got a similar option known as “Macintosh HD“. Here is the complete guide regarding it.

Mac computers are really awesome. They steal our hearts by their amazing design and performance too for sure.

But if you are a new Mac user or you have just switched from Windows to Mac. You might find your new computer (mac) a little tricky as you are not familiar with it.

In windows, we get an option known as “My computer” or “This PC”

It essentially allows you to locate all your files and folders in your hard disk.

But you don’t have it on mac. Instead, you have Macintosh HD which will work same as “This PC”

Enable Macintosh HD in Finder & Desktop:

  • Step 1: Open Finder from the top finder menu and select Preferences. Alternatively, you can hold Command + , after launching Finder to open preferences directly.

  • Step 2: Check the hard disk” option. [This will make hard disk visible on your desktop]

Now you need to enable it in Finder.

  • Step 3: Go to Sidebar tab:
  • Step 4: Under the Devices section. Enable the “Harddisk” option.
