High School DxD is a Japanese novel light series written byIchiei Ishibumiand designed byMiyama-zero.The series consists of comedy, harem, and supernatural genres. The series began its telecast in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine in September 2008. As of March 2018, twenty-five volumes of this series were available in Japan under Fujimi Fantasia Bunko and the first volume was telecasted on September 20, 2008. High school DxD is followed by three seasons with different titles added towards the end as follows
- The second season – High School DxD New released on 7th July 2013
- The third season – High School DxD Born released on 4th April 2015
- The fourth season – High School DxD Hero released on 10th April 2018
The series is streaming on Netflix and has moderate ratings. Season 1,2 and 3 have twelve episodes in each where the 4th season has thirteen episodes.

WHAT HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY?
The show starts with the character named Kunou, a fox girl requesting help from Issei to save her mother which is followed by Issei and his friends helping Kunou. The story intensifies the audience and they don’t realize that they care too much about Kunou’s situation and the series gets serious. The first half of this season carries the 9th book of the novel and the second half with the 10th book.
The first two seasons’ intensity and feel are aroused where the experience of familiar mood can be seen in the second half of the story. Like before Issei is still dark from inside that he doesn’t understand or feel anything which leads to Rias’s vulnerability bursting out and expressing her feeling.
Her disappointment after the incident lets down the hope of this series fans. This season 4 was much awaited by the fans as it was released after a long time, the style of animation done by Passione Studious is one of the major changes.
SEASON 5 – EXPECTED PLOT
Season 5 is expected to carry the 11th and 12th books of the light novel. The upcoming season might start with the Middle-class promotion test while the protagonist Issei, Akeno, and Kiba preparing to ace the test.
The struggle of Issei to make a mark can be seen which might also end up in success though! Issei’s dream to become a Harem King is also expected from the upcoming stories and his heroic gesture can be seen from the part of him finding Fox’s mother.

The main reason for the High School DxD animated series to be one of the most favorites among the fans for 8 long years is because of the same entertaining characters. Hence the same characters from the previous season are expected to be introduced once again in season 5. The characters are

RELEASE DATE
The High School DxD animated series has been entertaining us since 2014 but it has been two years of the release of 4th season. The fifth-season releasing date was confirmed by the makers a long time back that the season would be launched by 2020 but due to the pandemic, it was further delayed.
But hey!!! From many sources, it is believed that the makers of the series have resumed production, and season 5 is expected to be released by the mid of 2021.
